Banana Porridge Recipe

The breakfast of champions Jamaican Banana Porridge also known as cog or Pop is a great way to start your morning. This sweet and filling dish will leave you licking your bowl and asking for more. Usually made for breakfast with a side of crackers or bread.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup milk/ soy milk powder
  2. pinch of salt
  3. nutmeg
  4. cinnamon powder
  5. vanilla extract
  6. 2 cups water
  7. 4 tbs sugar
  8. condensed milk
  9. 4 Green bananas

Directions

  1. Peel bananas and cut into smaller pieces to fit in blender
  2. Add chopped banana to blender along with salt , nutmeg, cinnamon powder
  3. Add four tablespoons of brown sugar
  4. Add four tablespoons soy milk powder
  5. Next add 1 cup water
  6. Blend ingredients until smooth
  7. Add blended mixture to 2 cups of boiling water
  8. Stir mixture consistently to prevent lumps
  9. Mix and add water occasionally
  10. Add vanilla extract and mix it in
  11. Boil for 10-15 mins
  12. Sweeten to taste

Optional Sides

  • Bread of choice
  • Crackers

Notes

  • sweeten with sugar or condense milk
  • For vegan option use plant-based milk
  • serve warm
